Another A24 release that doesn't get a Blu-ray release. Interesting.
An all-star cast including Academy Award winner Emma Thompson (Best Actress, Howards End, 1992) leads the way in The Children Act, arriving on DVD November 13 from Lionsgate. Based on the novel by Ian McEwan (Atonement) and from director Richard Eyre (Notes on a Scandal and Iris), the thrilling film called “beautifully complex” by Variety and “bracingly intelligent” by The Guardian, about a High Court judge faced to rule in the complicated case of a minor who refuses life-saving treatment, also stars Academy Award nominee Stanley Tucci (Best Supporting Actor, The Lovely Bones, 2009) and Fionn Whitehead. Including an audio commentary with director Richard Eyre, writer Ian McEwan, and producer Duncan Kenworthy, The Children Act DVD will be available for the suggested retail price of $19.98.
OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS
Oscar winner Emma Thompson gives one of her best performances as a British High Court judge who, in the midst of a crisis with her husband (Stanley Tucci), must rule on a case concerning a teenage boy whose religious convictions prevent him from accepting the blood transfusion that would save his life. Directed by Richard Eyre (Iris) and based on the novel by Ian McEwan, The Children Act is a deeply affecting portrait of strength, devotion, and love.
